Rokaya Mohammed is currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and certificate in Intermediate Korean at Boise State University. She is particularly interested in water resources engineering, which led her to work as an academic assistant for a fluid mechanics course. She is actively involved in her ASCE student chapter Concrete Canoe team as mix design captain and has worked as a College of Engineering peer advisor, helping students navigate their academic and professional journeys. As a Muslim Arab woman in STEM, she is proud to represent underrepresented voices in engineering and hopes to inspire future generations to pursue their passions in an increasingly more diverse and inclusive engineering community.

The Southern Idaho Section of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has established a scholarship program for Civil Engineering students currently enrolled in the Civil Engineering curriculum at Boise State University, Brigham Young University - Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, Idaho State University and College of Western Idaho. The purpose of this scholarship is to recognize, encourage, and assist promising students who have expressed interest in pursuing a career in the field of Civil Engineering and to recognize students who have been active in ASCE Section and Student Chapter activities.
To be eligible for the Scholarship, candidates must currently be enrolled in good standing at any of the colleges mentioned above and working towards a degree in Civil Engineering. Candidates from College of Southern Idaho or College of Western Idaho must also include a letter of acceptance from a four-year Civil Engineering degree granting institution. The candidate must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours towards their declared degree and must have more than 24 credit hours remaining to complete the Civil Engineering degree. In addition, the candidate must be a participating member of ASCE. Any given student may only be awarded a scholarship a maximum of 2 times.

Brenna Gundersen is a senior at Idaho State University, preparing to begin graduate studies in Civil Engineering. With a focus on geotechnical engineering, she has gained valuable experience in construction management and construction materials. Her passion lies in the improvement of practical civil engineering solutions that make a lasting impact. As president of the ISU ASCE Student Chapter, she has enjoyed mentoring fellow students as they prepare for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and fostering community engagement through initiatives such as food drives. Brenna is dedicated to advancing her field and contributing to both her university and the local community.
